dear google, did you think of everything...

day 191...

when i was in high school, i used a typewriter (if you don't know what it is, google it ;) to type a paper...i don't remember my first home computer until i was a junior or senior in high school or maybe even college...

i didn't text message anyone until i was way way in college, i might have been even in grad school...

i didn't facebook until circa 2008 and i think i might have even dabbled in some myspace for a short time...and i didn't come on twitter board until about a year ago...

i know what a record player is & records, i have had cars that had cassette players in them & have even concocted my own mixed tape...i knew what is like to not have access to music in a small device but rather carry a whole case of cds...

i have carried books to & from the library or book stores b/c that was the only way you could read things...

i have used a camera with film, and had to wait a couple of days to get them developed (google that one too)...

i remember when you needed a phone number or address, you looked it up in your mother's phone book or this book called the yellow pages...

& i for sure remember when all these things changed...& i also know that any of these items i have listed you can actually google...

GOOGLE,
i believe is amazing,
first let us talk about how awesome their homepage is...i love to see what they come up with for different occasions and holidays...& google has made it possible for us to accomplish all the tasks i listed above in probably about 10 minutes...google can solve anything...just type it in & there you got an answer, i had a friend who had a girlfriend that asked google everything...if you think about it, google is directions, a dictionary, an encyclopedia, reference guide, a how to, a therapist, a doctor, a lawyer, really is there anything you can't type in there...if there is something you cannot type in google & find the answer, i will buy you drink (scouts honor)...

i have a blackberry, we have discussed it, we know there are features that are still in the dark ages, think dial up internet...recently i wanted to know where a starbucks was while traveling; most people whip out there phones, i on the other hand would rather watch paint dry than wait for my internet to find some information...so i texted my friend...luckily i found one...and my friend informed me i could not go wrong they are everywhere...later my friend mentioned i could have googled it, & of course i reply back with, i have grandma paced internet and he sent me a link (created by google); which finds places simply by sending a text to 46645 & then you shall receive your answer...best idea yet for all those people who are not equipped with super high tech phones....

...so as far as my concern, google you have thought of everything & continue to think...

in fact my blog would not possible if not for google...so that in itself proves how 'schweet' google is that it can bring you the world of me (i know its scary, go with it)...

new phrase to be used more on a regularly --> google it...

here are some other events that occurred on this day way back when...but remember what is the most important that happened, that would be the birth of me!

the moment; i want to dance with you...

day 189...

if haven't mentioned it...i love to dance, fast, slow...i always say it is my favorite part of weddings or parties...and that i if i danced as much as i do at weddings/parties...i would probably be about 2 lbs...in particular there is something special about a slow dance...i think it has to do with someone whomever that person is, holding you close and just being in that moment...for that 2-4 minutes the only thing that matters is you & that person, & a some random song that brought you together...

& you may have many dances but hopefully you will have that dance where the person that is dancing with you is your best friend..the song may no longer be a random song, in fact it speaks to the meaning of your friendship...it is as if nothing else matters...

it is the dance when your best friend takes your hand, sings to you, and dances with you...& you know that is where you want to be forever...

Green Beans, Cusa, and Such...

day 188...

no it is not just about food, this is about how food has affected me over the years (no i am not talking about "you are what you eat")...it over the years it  brought my family together...being from a strong ethnic background, especially my mom's side of the family; which is lebanese...major happenings occur in the kitchen, many events evolve around the aspect of food...
we come together to celebrate, to mourn, to laugh, to cry, to be with each other & i can guarantee you; that there will not just be food, but some of THEE MOST AMAZING FOOD your mouth has ever indulged in...it makes me smile to think of how many conversations i have has over my short little lifetime where food was involved...
as i am writing tonight, i was just blessed with a conversation that involved my aunt & my mom & our kitchen table...how priceless was that moment where they were telling me stories of their youth...remembering my siti, my giddo, my uncle mike & so many others that i was not fortunate enough to meet, but through them & this moment i have a connection...i know that my grandparents had many friends, that my uncle was a great man, that they all loved life & loved to entertain & feed people...we have those moments that allow us, even for a very brief second, to understand where we come from & how we arrived to this moment to where i am sitting with two amazing women, who i hope to one day will share the same memories with my children at a kitchen table, eating labne & pita of course...
so whether it is coring cusa, picking green beans or parsley, pinching cookies, rolling grape leaves, cutting baklawa, & then tasting each one of these only to add more nuts, more all spice, more lemon, more salt, and eventually leading to one of the greatest meals in the world...
the secret behind each one of these recipes lies in each one of the people that help create it, and eat it...it lies with those in the past, present, and the future...it lies in the stories we may only hear once, or those we can sight verbatim...
they are the recipes that enable us to become who we are today...
a blessing disguised as food that leads us to cherish a memory forever...
SAHTAIN...

just maybe...

day 187...

a thought i came across...thought i would share...happy thoughts...

"she sat there waiting for him to notice her, waiting for him to take a 2nd look or even acknowledge her existence....but deep down she knew, her fear was true, he would go on and not notice her and she would need to let go....and at every moment when she was ready to let go, the hope inside her would sneak up and say just maybe...

just maybe you will be the one he chooses, that just maybe he will notice you first, that just maybe his stomach will do flips when he sees you, that just maybe he will chase after you, that just maybe he will say, "maybe we could hang out", that just maybe he might want all that is you, that just maybe he might...

...or just maybe he won't & your heart will hurt and your chest will sign heavily... & you will continue to breathe slowly & to stop holding on to the just maybe but rather run after the for sure(s)...because after all a just maybe could be that way forever whereas a for sure can last forever..."
