day 250...
...what is wrong with the world...so i have the great fortune of staying with a high school senior for the next 2 weeks...well of course i divulge into his life; trying to see if there is any reminisce of my high school days...guess what they have changed things (now mind you this study was done with one kid/one school district)...
let us compare & contrast...
...we had pep rallies...he didn't even know what it was...in fact he said he only saw them in movies & that only the "country" schools might have them...
...we had assemblies...they have like one & then any other ones are held on a saturday...you don't have to do it all the time, maybe once every two months...
...majority of the kids went to the dances, now most of them do not or say they are & then don't go...
...they have spirit week & then a spirit assembly that does not surround itself around the football team & their biggest rivalry...
...we had the freshman walk (freshman walk through upperclassmen & get stuff thrown at them)...they are barely allowed to talk to the freshman...
...i cannot believe amongst all their academics they do not have extras that are incorporated within the school...like really, i am all for academics and kids learning, but they need to find their balance...and it also makes them more diverse...i don't know, what happened to the fun? we did both & it worked for us...so why not live a little...just sayin' at least a throw a pep rally...
