...so the movie came out & we all went and saw it...people died of laughter...& some, especially those that come from a big (insert culture) family laughed even harder because it reminded us of our families...and what would it be like if you were to take a peek inside...i cannot even begin to tell you how many times a family member or two has said when describing our family, "you know the movie, my big fat greek wedding, that is us..." so naturally i align myself with a lot of the movies...a few comparisons...
...i have been often referred to as toula, especially when i worked for my brother, who happened to be named nick that owned a restaurant...did i also mention i worked for him way out of college...& then when i decided to leave, he used to say "why you want to leave me..."
...i have a cousin that is very much like aunt voula...
...ask my SIL, kate what her family thought of us when we all started yelling, and arabic dancing...they had fun, but that was quite an adjustment...
...when we have family events, a small group is 40...
...the whole scene of the baptism, i actually did it...oil all over the body, and it wasn't a baby pool but a gigantic plastic tub...just ask kate...
...the looks, the stares the what is wrong with her why isn't she married...
...we literally only have two volumes, loud & louder...
...when we come together, we eat, we laugh, we eat, we talk, we eat...
...we all drive each other nuts & are in each other business but we also have the best & greatest time together...
